Ska(te)Punk

Everybody knows the ska influenced melodic core of Millencolin, but there were much more bands who used to play this kind of sound. I remember the days as I grabbed my board and crashed my bones to this tunes, one band I liked a lot called "Falling to Pieces"
Here i have one typically song of them to try:

Workshop

I found it on another great blog: http://skatepunkmemories.blogspot.de/

There are many other good and fast playing skatepunk bands and almost every band has one or a few ska songs in their repertoir. But I must say the most play better punk than ska. Check it out!

Oi!

I made a compilation from german oi-bands who play a ska song. The most were from the late eighties, early nineties rac-scene, but i dont do the "nazi ska" on it. What a shitbull! And a handfull new bands. The lyrics are about drinking, fucking and fighting. One song is from the turkish band Ayilar, because they sounds like the german Bodychecks and there are many turkish people here. 1 is a coverversion played by the austrian Band Panzerknacker: Skinhead Love Affair (oi version). And in the end the swedish Poblers United with their Hymn: Antifascist Skin. Neither left no right! Fight Unite Doitsche Skampilation

Caribean Sound

Ok. I am goin on in the good old "this is no ska" tradition. Do you like caribbean Sound?

I have ripped a record, that i found some time ago at a flea market. I didn't take the time to cut the tracks, you can do it yourself if you want (i use the audacity recorder, you can find it for free on the web)
My favorite songs are number 1, 2 and the last on face A!!! This isn't ska, but didn't forget bout the ROOTS.

It wants to be listened (don't ya wonder bout that speed, maybe I was drunk, but it was the real tempo, africans playing so fast, lol) So have fun with this!

My next upload will be SKA of course ... stay tuned ;)

What the Funk?

I thought this is a Ska Blog and what the funk has a "funky soul record" doing here... but you know what?
I am Ska to the Bone! but i love a bit of every kind of music. I found this album in my collection. The Face A are really cool funk sounds. The B Side is more chill out soul. And when you think funk has nothing to do with ska, you may be right, but listen to the slow but typically "ska" playing guitar tunes on track 2, then you are wrong.
Like it or fight it, when you choose no.2, then go and funk yourself...
